In selecting management consultants in New Zealand, clients are seeking professionals who meet the consulting industry's own standards of competence, and skill.
The Consulting Skills Framework accreditation is a valuable aid in assisting any NZ consultant with this quest. The CSF is an accreditation mark of excellence among consultants.
How do you measure up against your peers and competitors?
IMCNZ confers consulting accreditation on New Zealand based consultants who can prove by way of assessment that they have reached a level of competency and delivery that meets the standards set in the IMCNZ Consulting Skills Framework.
The Consulting Skills Framework (CSF) allows consultants, former consultants, internal consultants, managers, academia and anyone who wants to receive accreditation in respect of consultancy to achieve accreditation from the only authorised body in New Zealand, IMCNZ.
By achieving accreditation we will hold your details on file and will never release them to others without your permission. However, you may authorise us to release your accreditation status to prospective clients at any time. This is an added benefit of accreditation as clients will know that your credentials are valid. Please see the FAQ page for details of how to do this.
Accreditation is separate from membership of IMCNZ, however for some levels of accreditation membership is mandatory. This is the only route to independently prove your capability to your clients. You may opt to allow us to disclose your current level of accreditation to clients who wish to check it. In this case, the only data we will release to them is your current level of accreditation and the date on which it was conferred.
So how do you proceed?

Click the Register button above to access the Consulting Skills Framework. At this stage you will be asked to select the accreditation level that you wish to assess against and then to pay the assessment fee relevant to the accreditation level that you are seeking. What are the levels? Visit the FAQ page. It is important to note that you must be able to provide supporting evidence and referees for your assessment, accreditation will be granted at IMCNZ's discretion based upon this supporting evidence. (See the Documentation page).
If you have selected and paid for accreditation at a higher level than you are able to evidence, then there will be no refund of assessment fee, however assuming there is sufficient proof of capability at a lower level, then IMCNZ will grant that level of accreditation . For example, if you believe you rank as a Master Consultant Practitioner, and are unable to convince the Institute of this, we may elect to grant you accreditation as a Senior Consultant Practitioner.
So what happens next?
Upon receipt of your fee we will email you a link to our assessment system, powered by
i-Sage 7 eSM, and you may then commence your self-assessment. There are up to five levels of competency for each skill in the framework, represented by tabs on the screen. Click a tab to read the definition, and if you think you can evidence that level of competence, then simply select it. If you want to go away and think about it you can opt to save your choices for later, and once you are happy with your selections, you are ready to submit it to us for validation. You may record evidence of your competence by attaching documents to each skill that you add.
Once we receive your submission we will cross check it, contact your referees and examine any other evidence provided. We may call to arrange an interview in some circumstances. Finally, once a month we will meet to review all submissions. You will then receive an invitation to our monthly Institute meeting where you will be presented with your certificate, or you may request it to be sent by post. The process could therefore take more than a month, depending on whether you submit your assessment to us and the timing of the next review meeting, however we will make it as fast as possible.
Good luck with your assessment and we look forward to receiving it soon!
